CULTURE NIGHT 2021

AT THE MUSEUM

Friday 17th September @ 4pm - 6pm

Amber One Million Stars Ireland at The Medieval Mile Museum for Culture Night 2021. Join us for a star weaving demonstration, register as a star weaver and take home a star weaving pack. You can tie your woven star to our LOVE * Installation in the Museum courtyard. Each star represents light, hope and solidarity against violence and raises domestic abuse awareness through our public star installations. The One Million Stars Ireland project was brought to Ireland by Art Therapist Siobhan McQuillan who works with Amber Womens Refuge. Siobhan encourages people and groups throughout the country to become involved so we all can reach the goal of one Million Stars to End Violence for Ireland.

This is the second time Medieval Mile Museum have been star hosts. In August 2020, the Museum,  part of Kilkenny Civic Trust, hosted 3000 hanging stars as part of Design and Craft Council of Ireland’s sculpture trail CONNECTED. Last year, Medieval Mile Museum and Amber One Million Stars Ireland ran their first successful Culture Night.

The event this year will follow Culture Night’s theme “City and Colour”.  The LOVE* Installation in the Museum courtyard comprises thousands of colourful hand-woven stars.
